Hearing the law doesn’t make a person right with God. Obeying the law does.

“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ but not do what I say?

Don’t fool yourselves by just listening to the word. You also have to do what it says.

He replied, “Blessed instead are those who hear God’s word and obey it.”

They claim that they know God, but their actions show that they don’t know him. They’re despicable, disobedient, and worthless at doing anything good.

So some people can still enter that rest. Those who had the good news announced to them earlier didn’t obey, and so they didn’t go in.

My Father wants everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him to have eternal life. And I will raise them up on the last day.”

If anyone wins the victory, I’ll give that person white clothes to wear, and I’ll never erase their name from the book of life. I’ll speak of them by name to my Father and his angels.

As a result, they don’t live the rest of their earthly life following wrong human desires. Instead, they live to do what God wants.

supply you with everything good so that you can do his will. May he create in us what is pleasing to him through Jesus Christ. And may Jesus receive glory for ever and ever. Amen.

If anyone chooses to do God’s will, they’ll know whether my teaching comes from God or from me.

Don’t live the way this world lives. Let your way of thinking be completely changed. Then you’ll be able to recognize what God wants for you and agree that what he wants is right. His plan is good and pleasing and perfect.

Anyone who does what God wants is my brother and sister and mother.”

and give thanks no matter what happens, because this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

And don’t obey them just to please them when they’re watching, but in order to do the will of God genuinely, as slaves of Christ.

By doing good, you’ll stop to the talk of foolish people who don’t know what they’re saying. This is what God wants you to do.

“His master replied, ‘You’ve done well, good and faithful slave! Because you’ve been faithful with a few things, I’m going to put you in charge of many things. Come, share your master’s happiness!’

It is God’s will for you to be made holy. He wants you to stay away from sexual sins.

Epaphras, who’s from your community and who’s a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings. He’s always praying hard for you, that you’ll stand firm in the will of God and that you’ll be confident and mature.

Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will have stand outside knocking and begging, ‘Sir, open the door for us.’ “But he will answer, ‘I don’t know you and I don’t know where you’re from.’

There they strengthened the disciples, encouraging them to remain faithful to what they’d been taught. “We have to go through many hard times to enter the kingdom of God,” they explained.

If your eye causes you to sin, pull it out. It would be better for you to enter the kingdom of God with only one eye than to be thrown with two eyes into hell,

Jesus went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it isn’t possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, then may your will be done.”

Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon, son of Jonah! No mere human showed that to you, but my Father in heaven.

just as I’ve received authority from my Father. “They will rule them with an iron scepter and break them to pieces like clay pots.”

If you really know me, you will know my Father also. From now on, you do know him and you’ve seen him.”

Jesus said in his own defense, “My Father is always at work right up to this day, and I am working too.”

He went off a little distance and got down on the ground face first. He prayed, “My Father, if possible, please take this cup of suffering away from me. But let your will be done, not mine.”

“Make sure you don’t look down on one of these little ones. I tell you, their angels in heaven see face to face my Father who is in heaven.

“Again, I tell you truly, if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, my Father in heaven will do it for you.

“So they went off to buy oil, and while they were away, the groom arrived. The bridesmaids who were ready went in with him to the wedding dinner. Then the door was shut.
