We shouldn’t test the Lord, as some of them did—and they were killed by snakes.

There your people of long ago tested me, even though for 40 years they saw what I did.

Jesus answered, “It is said, ‘Do not test the Lord your God.’ ”

Now then, why are you trying to test God by putting a heavy load on the shoulders of the Gentiles? Our people of long ago couldn’t carry that load, and we today can’t either.
