He was there for 40 days, and during that time Satan tempted him. There were wild animals out there, too, but they didn’t hurt Jesus. Angels came and took care of him.
“If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. After all, it is written, “ ‘The Lord will command his angels to take good care of you. They will lift you up in their hands so that you don’t trip over a stone.’ ”
Without question, true godliness comes from this great mystery: Jesus came as a human being, and he was declared right with God by the Holy Spirit. He was seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, and taken up in glory.
