Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan River so that John could baptize him.
But when he learned that Archelaus had succeeded his father Herod as king of Judea, he was afraid to go there. He was warned in a dream, and he went back to the land of Galilee instead.
They confessed their sins, and John baptized them in the Jordan.
But John didn’t want to. He told Jesus, “I need to be baptized by you, so why are you coming to me?”
I didn’t know who he was, but I came and baptized with water so that Israel would find out who he was.”
