He said, “The Son of Man is going to have to suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the teachers of the law. He will even be killed, but on the third day he will rise from the dead.”
From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples what would happen to him. He told them he would have to go to Jerusalem and that the elders, chief priests, and teachers of the law would make him suffer many things there. He would be killed, but he would rise again on the third day.

We serve God in times of glory and shame, whether the things people say about us are good or bad. We’re genuine, but people treat us as if we were fakes.
They began to make accusations against him. They said, “We’ve found this man leading our people astray. He says they shouldn’t pay taxes to Caesar, and he claims to be the Messiah—a king.”
So give an order to make the tomb secure until the third day. If you don’t, his disciples might come and steal his body. Then they’ll tell the people that Jesus has risen from the dead, and that last lie will be worse than the first.”

Jesus took the 12 disciples aside and told them, “We’re going up to Jerusalem and everything that the prophets wrote about the Son of Man is going to come true.
