Jesus went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it isn’t possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, then may your will be done.”

He went off a little distance and got down on the ground face first. He prayed, “My Father, if possible, please take this cup of suffering away from me. But let your will be done, not mine.”

We don’t have a high priest who can’t feel what we feel when we’re weak. Instead, we have a high priest who has been tempted in every way just as we are, but without sinning.

May your kingdom come— may your will be done on earth as it already is done in heaven.

“You don’t know what you’re asking for,” Jesus said to them. “Can you drink the cup of suffering that I’m going to drink?” “We can,” they answered.

Then he came back and found the three of them sleeping again. They couldn’t keep their eyes open,

“Abba, Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup of suffering away from me. Not what I want, though. Do what you want.”

He said, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup of suffering away from me. But do what you want, not what I want.”

I haven’t come down from heaven to do my own will; I’ve come to do the will of the one who sent me.
