Two men who were blind were sitting by the side of the road. When they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, “Lord! Son of David! Have mercy on us!”

Then Jesus and his disciples went through Jericho. As they were leaving the city, a large crowd was with them. A blind man named Bartimaeus (which means Son of Timaeus) was sitting by the side of the road begging.

“What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he?” “The son of David,” they replied.

People who were blind and disabled came to Jesus at the temple, and he healed them.

Some of the people went ahead of him, and some followed behind, and they all shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

But David was a prophet. He knew that God had made a promise to him that someone in his family line would be king after him.

At that time Jesus healed many people who had illnesses, sicknesses, and evil spirits, and he restored the sight of many who were blind.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to announce the good news to the poor. He has sent me to announce freedom for prisoners, to make the blind see again, to set free those who are mistreated,

A Canaanite woman who lived near there came to him and cried out, “Lord! Son of David! Have mercy on me! A demon has been controlling my daughter and making her suffer terribly.”

As he scattered it, some fell on a path and the birds came and ate it up.

The crowd told them to stop shouting and be quiet. But the two men shouted even more loudly, “Lord! Son of David! Have mercy on us!”
