“What do you want?” Jesus asked. She said, “Promise that in your kingdom, my two sons will get thrones right next to yours, one on each side of you.”

Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, when all things are made new and the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, then you who have followed me will also sit on 12 thrones, judging the 12 tribes of Israel.

At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked him, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”

Then the apostles gathered around Jesus and asked him a question. “Lord,” they said, “are you now going to give the kingdom back to Israel?”

The daughter of Herodias came in and danced for Herod and his dinner guests, and they were all very pleased. The king told the girl, “Ask me for anything you want, and I’ll give it to you.”

Jesus stopped and called out to them, “What do you want me to do for you?”

Since you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is sitting at God’s right hand.

Love one another deeply. Honor one another more than yourselves.

But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you can ask for anything you wish, and it will be done for you.

They also started to argue about which of them should be considered the most important.

While the people were listening to these things, Jesus told them a story, because he was near Jerusalem, and the people thought that God’s kingdom was going to appear right away.

“What do you want me to do for you?” The man who was blind replied, “Lord, I want to be able to see.”

“What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man responded, “Rabbi, I want to be able to see.”

Then who can say we’re guilty? No one. Christ Jesus, who died for us—indeed, who was raised for us—is at the right hand of God praying for us.

When the Lord Jesus had finished speaking to them, he was taken up into heaven, where he sat down at the right hand of God.

“You don’t know what you’re asking for,” Jesus said to them. “Can you drink the cup of suffering that I’m going to drink?” “We can,” they answered.
