“But then that servant went out and found another servant, who owed him 100 silver coins. He grabbed him and began to choke him. ‘Pay back what you owe me!’ he demanded.

He agreed to give them the usual pay for a day’s work, and he sent them into the vineyard.

His master felt sorry for him, so he forgave him what he owed and let him go.

“The other servant got down on his knees. ‘Give me time,’ he begged him, ‘and I’ll pay it back.’

But Jesus answered, “You give them something to eat.” They said to him, “That would cost more than half a year’s wages! Should we go and spend that much on bread so we can feed them?”

It could have been sold for more than a year’s pay, and the money could have been given to the poor.” And they started angrily telling the woman that she’d done something wrong.

“Two people owed money to a certain lender. One of them owed him 500 silver coins, while the other owed 50 silver coins.

The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the owner of the inn. ‘Take care of this man,’ he told him. ‘When I return, I’ll pay you for any extra expenses this doesn’t cover.’

Philip answered, “We’d have to spend more than half a year’s pay to buy enough bread for each person to have just a bite!”
