From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples what would happen to him. He told them he would have to go to Jerusalem and that the elders, chief priests, and teachers of the law would make him suffer many things there. He would be killed, but he would rise again on the third day.
Jesus then began to teach his disciples that the Son of Man would have to suffer a lot. He told them that the elders, chief priests, and teachers of the law would reject him. He said that he would be killed, but that after three days he would rise again.
He said, “The Son of Man is going to have to suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the teachers of the law. He will even be killed, but on the third day he will rise from the dead.”
Was there ever a prophet your people didn’t attack? They even killed those who told about the coming of the Blameless One. And now you’ve handed him over to his enemies and murdered him.
But I tell you, Elijah has already come. But people didn’t recognize him, so they did whatever they wanted to him. In the same way, they’re going to make the Son of Man suffer.”
