We must all stand before Christ to be judged, and then each of us will receive what we deserve for the things we did while we were in our bodies, whether they were good or bad.
Enoch, the seventh man in the family line of Adam, gave a prophecy about these people. He said, “Look! The Lord is coming with thousands and thousands of his holy ones.
I saw the dead, both great and small, standing in front of the throne. Books were opened, and then another book was opened, which was the book of life. The dead were judged by what they’d done, which had been recorded in the books.
I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I’m the one who searches hearts and minds and that I pay each person back for what they’ve done.
If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”
“Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven. Then all the peoples of the earth will mourn, when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
“Look! He’s coming with the clouds!” “Every eye will see him, even those who pierced him.” All the nations of the earth “will mourn because of him.” This will happen! Amen.
“Men of Galilee,” they asked, “why are you standing here looking at the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come back just as you saw him go.”
“You have said so,” Jesus replied. “But I say to all of you that after this you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One, coming on the clouds of heaven.”
You call on a Father who judges each person’s work without favoring one person over another. So live with the highest respect for God during your time as outsiders here.
If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, then the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and the holy angels.
and about how you’re waiting for his Son to come from heaven. The Son is the one God raised from the dead, Jesus, and he saves us from God’s coming anger.
The Lord himself will come down from heaven shouting a command, with the voice of the chief angel, and with a blast from God’s trumpet. Then those who believed in Christ but have already died will rise first.
Because Jesus said this, a rumor spread among the believers that the disciple Jesus loved wouldn’t die. But Jesus didn’t say he wouldn’t die. He only said, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what does that matter to you?”
Every person’s work will be recognized for what it is, because the Day of Judgment will expose it. Everyone’s work will be put through fire to test how good it is.
But this will happen in a particular order. Christ is the first of those who rise from the dead. When he comes back, those who belong to him will be raised.
Brothers and sisters, be patient until the Lord returns. See how the farmer waits for the land to produce its rich crop, being patient until the fall and spring rains come.
