Jesus answered, “You give them something to eat.” The disciples replied, “All we have is five loaves of bread and two fish—unless you want us to go out and buy food for all these people!”
But Jesus answered, “You give them something to eat.” They said to him, “That would cost more than half a year’s wages! Should we go and spend that much on bread so we can feed them?”
When it was almost evening, the disciples came to him. “We’re in the middle of nowhere,” they told him, “and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away so they can go to the villages and buy some food.”
Then Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I’m concerned for these people because they’ve already been with me for three days and they’ve run out of food to eat. I don’t want to send them away hungry, because if I do, they may be too weak to make it back home.”
