Then Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I’m concerned for these people because they’ve already been with me for three days and they’ve run out of food to eat. I don’t want to send them away hungry, because if I do, they may be too weak to make it back home.”

When he saw the crowds, he felt deep concern for them, because they looked ragged and bewildered, like sheep without a shepherd.

Just before dawn Paul tried to get everyone to eat. “For the last 14 days,” he said, “you’ve wondered what would happen and you’ve gone without food. You haven’t eaten anything.

We don’t have a high priest who can’t feel what we feel when we’re weak. Instead, we have a high priest who has been tempted in every way just as we are, but without sinning.

When the Lord saw her, he felt compassion for her and said, “Don’t cry.”

“The spirit has often thrown him into the fire or into the water to try to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”

“Sir,” they said, “we remember something that this liar said while he was still alive. He claimed, ‘After three days I will rise again.’

Jesus felt deep concern for them, so he went over and touched their eyes. Right away they became able to see, and they followed him.

Jonah was in the belly of a huge fish for three days and three nights, the Son of Man will spend three days and three nights in the grave.

When Jesus heard what had happened, he went by himself in a boat to a remote place. When the crowds learned he was coming, they came out of their towns and walked over to where he would land.

His disciples answered, “Where could we get enough bread to feed this large crowd? We’re in the middle of nowhere.”
