Her mother got her to say, “Give me the head of John the Baptist on a platter.”

She went out to her mother and said, “What should I ask for?” She answered, “The head of John the Baptist.”

He promised to give her anything she asked for.

The king was very upset, but because he’d made his promise in front of his dinner guests, he gave her what she asked for.

and it was carried in on a platter and given to the girl. She then took it to her mother.

The girl hurried back to the king and said, “I want you to give me the head of John the Baptist on a platter, right now.”

and then he brought it back on a platter. He gave it to the girl, and she gave it to her mother.
