When they saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost!” they exclaimed, crying out in fear.

They were surprised and frightened because they thought they were seeing a ghost.

When I saw him, I fell at his feet as if I were dead. But he put his right hand on me and said, “Don’t be afraid. I’m the First and the Last,

The women were terrified and bowed down with their faces to the ground. But the men said to them, “Why are you looking for the living among the dead?

“You’re out of your mind,” they responded. But she kept insisting it was true. So they decided, “It must be his angel.”

Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.

but they didn’t find his body there. They came back and told us that they’d seen a vision of angels, who told them Jesus was alive.
