Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass for everyone to sit on. Only counting the men, there were about 5,000 in the crowd.

Everyone ate as much as they wanted, and afterwards the disciples picked up 12 full baskets of leftover pieces.

Afterwards Jesus made the disciples get right into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side of the lake while he said goodbye to the crowd.
