Be alert and stay sober. Your enemy the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion looking for something to kill and eat.

But there were also false prophets among the people. In the same way, there will be false teachers among you. They’ll secretly bring in wrong teachings that can destroy you. They’ll even deny the Lord and Master who died to pay for their sins. So they will quickly destroy themselves.

and the enemy who plants them is the devil. The harvest is the judgment day and the workers are angels.

The great dragon was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. That dragon is the old serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray.

Make sure that no one misses out on God’s grace and that no bitter plant grows up, because if it does, it will cause trouble and make many people impure.

The groom was expected that evening, but when he didn’t come for a long time, all the bridesmaids grew tired and fell asleep.

That question came up because some false believers had slipped in among us to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus. They wanted to make us slaves again.

The second beast ordered people to set up a statue to honor the first beast. The first beast was the one who’d been wounded by a sword but had survived.

Jesus told the crowd another story. He said, “Here’s what the kingdom of heaven is like. A man planted good seed in his field.

The wheat began to grow and form grain, but at the same time, weeds appeared.

“The owner’s slaves came to him and said, ‘Master, didn’t you plant good seed in your field? Then where did these weeds come from?’

“ ‘No,’ the owner answered, ‘because while you’re pulling up the weeds, you might pull up the wheat too. Let them both grow together until the harvest.

Then I’ll tell the workers, “First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned. Then gather the wheat and put it in my barn.” ’ ”
