“What can I compare this generation to? They’re like children sitting in the markets and calling out to their friends,

Then Jesus asked, “What is God’s kingdom like? What can I compare it to?

Then Jesus asked, “What can we say the kingdom of God is like? What story can we use to explain it?

Truly I tell you, this generation will be held responsible for all of it.

You nest of vipers! How can you who are bad say anything good? Whatever is in your heart comes out of your mouth.

Truly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have happened.

Whoever is able to understand should pay attention.

“ ‘We played the flute for you, but you didn’t dance. We sang a funeral song, but you didn’t become sad.’

They love to be greeted with respect in the markets and to be called ‘Rabbi.’

As he taught, he said, “Watch out for the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in long robes, to be greeted with respect in the marketplace,

“Woe to you Pharisees! You love the most important seats in the synagogues, and you love having people greet you with respect in the marketplace.
