Jesus sat down and called for the 12 disciples to come to him. “Anyone who wants to be the first must be the very last,” he told them. “They have to be a servant to everyone else.”
But you must not be like that. Instead, the most important among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules should be like the one who serves.
“I tell you, the tax collector went home accepted by God, but the Pharisee didn’t. All those who lift themselves up will be humbled, but those who humble themselves will be lifted up.”
