Jesus saw that they wanted to ask him about these things, so he said to them, “Are you asking each other what I meant when I said, ‘In a little while you won’t see me anymore, then after a little while you’ll see me again’?
At first, Jesus’ disciples didn’t understand all this. They only realized after he was glorified that these things had been written about him and that they had been done to him.
Just then Jesus’ disciples came back, and they were surprised to find him talking with a woman. But no one asked her, “What do you want?” And no one asked him, “Why are you talking with her?”
Later Jesus appeared to the 11 disciples as they were eating. He had strong words for them for being so unbelieving and hard-hearted. He told them they should have believed the people who’d seen him after he rose from the dead.
Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, and then he firmly put Peter in his place. “Get behind me, Satan!” he said. “You’re not thinking about what God wants. You’re only thinking about what people want.”
