Then Peter took him by the right hand and helped him up. At once the man’s feet and ankles became strong.

He went to her, took her hand, and helped her up. Then the fever left her, and she began to serve them.

He took her by the hand and helped her to her feet. Then he called the believers, especially the widows, and showed them that she was alive.

He took him by the hand and led him outside the village. Then he spit on the man’s eyes and placed his hands on him. “Do you see anything?” Jesus asked.

He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (That means, “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”)

“I am willing,” Jesus retorted, reaching out his hand to touch the man. “Be clean!”

But after the crowd had moved outside, Jesus went in and took the girl by the hand, and she got up.

The spirit screamed and shook the boy wildly, then it came out of him. The boy looked so lifeless that many people said, “He’s dead.”

After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we drive out the evil spirit?”

The commander took the young man off to one side so he could speak with him privately. “What do you want to tell me?” he asked.
