Later Jesus appeared to the 11 disciples as they were eating. He had strong words for them for being so unbelieving and hard-hearted. He told them they should have believed the people who’d seen him after he rose from the dead.
“You unbelieving people who’ve turned away from God!” Jesus replied. “How long do I have to stay with you and put up with you?” Then he said to the man, “Bring your son here.”
“You faithless, disobedient generation!” Jesus replied. “How long am I going to be with you? How long do I have to put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.”
“But now I’m deeply distressed. What should I say? ‘Father, keep me from having to go through with this’? No, this is the very reason why I’ve come to this point in my life.
Whenever it takes hold of him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth and grinds his teeth, and his body becomes stiff. I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they couldn’t.”
