“Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go and throw yourself into the sea,’ if they don’t doubt in their heart but believe that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.

The spirit screamed and shook the boy wildly, then it came out of him. The boy looked so lifeless that many people said, “He’s dead.”

So they brought him. As soon as the spirit saw Jesus, it threw the boy into a fit. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.

When the members of the Sanhedrin heard this, they got so angry that they ground their teeth at Stephen.

They’re like wild waves of the sea—their shame rises up like foam. They’re like stars that don’t stay in place. God has reserved very great darkness for them forever.

But the children of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where they will weep and grind their teeth.”

A man in the crowd answered, “Teacher, I brought my son to you. He’s controlled by an evil spirit that keeps him from speaking.

“You unbelieving generation!” Jesus responded. “How long am I going to be with you? How long do I have to put up with you? Bring the boy to me.”
