When Jesus came ashore, he found a large crowd. He felt deep concern for them because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began to teach them many things.
We don’t have a high priest who can’t feel what we feel when we’re weak. Instead, we have a high priest who has been tempted in every way just as we are, but without sinning.
So he had to be made like them—fully human in every way. That way he could serve God as a merciful and faithful high priest and purify the people from their sins.
Then Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I’m concerned for these people because they’ve already been with me for three days and they’ve run out of food to eat. I don’t want to send them away hungry, because if I do, they may be too weak to make it back home.”
But many people saw them leaving and recognized who they were. People ran from all the towns to where they were heading, and they got there ahead of them.
