The girl hurried back to the king and said, “I want you to give me the head of John the Baptist on a platter, right now.”

“Their feet run quickly to commit murder,

In those days John the Baptist came and preached in the desert around Judea.

Her mother got her to say, “Give me the head of John the Baptist on a platter.”

She went out to her mother and said, “What should I ask for?” She answered, “The head of John the Baptist.”

The king was very upset. But because he’d made a promise in front of all his dinner guests, he didn’t want to say no to the girl.
