Jesus went inside and asked them, “Why are you all crying so loudly? The child isn’t dead. She’s only sleeping.”
But Paul went down and threw himself on the young man, putting his arms around him. “Don’t worry,” he said. “He’s alive!”
Jesus died for us so that we might live with him, whether we are still alive on this earth or whether we have already died.
That’s why many of you are weak and sick, and a number of you have died.
“Go away,” he told them, “the girl isn’t dead; she’s sleeping.” They all laughed at him.
As they approached the home of the synagogue leader, they could hear the noise of people crying and sobbing loudly.
But they laughed at him. He made them all go outside, and he brought only the child’s father and mother and his disciples in to where the child was.
