The seed on rocky ground stands for those who hear the message and receive it with joy, but who have no roots. They believe for a while, but when they are tested, they fall away from the faith.
because Herod was afraid of John and kept him safe. Herod knew John was a holy man who did what was right. When he listened to him, he always felt uncomfortable, but he still liked to hear John speak.
Some of the seed that was scattered fell on a path. It stands for what happens when people hear the message but then Satan comes immediately and takes away what was planted in them.
But because they have no roots, they last only a short time. When trouble or suffering comes because of the message, they quickly fall away from the faith.
