Be alert and stay sober. Your enemy the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion looking for something to kill and eat.

When people hear the message about the kingdom, but they don’t understand it, the evil one comes and steals what was planted in their hearts. Those people are like the seed that landed on the path.

We don’t want Satan to outsmart us. We know how he does his evil work.

The seed on the path is God’s message in the hearts of those who hear, but the devil comes and takes the message away from their hearts. They won’t believe and be saved.

As he scattered the seed, some fell on a path, and the birds came and ate it up.

Then Peter said, “Ananias, how has Satan so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit? You’ve kept some of the money you received for your land.

The devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will all suffer day and night for ever and ever.

When the 1,000 years are over, Satan will be set free from his prison.

So we must pay very careful attention to what we’ve heard, so that we don’t drift away from it.

The coming of the man of sin will fit how Satan works. He’ll show his power through all kinds of signs and wonders that will lead people astray.

“But the people paid no attention. One went off to his field and another went to his business.

The great dragon was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. That dragon is the old serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray.

Jesus said to him, “Get away from me, Satan! It is written, ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’ ”

And make sure that no one is sexually immoral or godless like Esau, who sold his rights as the oldest son for a single meal.

When they heard Paul talk about the dead being raised, some of them laughed at that idea. But others said, “We want to hear you speak about this again.”

The seed that the farmer plants is God’s message.

The seed that was scattered on rocky places represents other people who hear the message and right away receive it with joy.
