The word of God is alive and active. It’s even sharper than any sword that has two edges. It penetrates deep inside us, to where the bones meet the joints and where the soul meets the spirit, until it reveals the thoughts and intentions of our hearts.
Simon Peter and Thomas (who was also called Didymus) were there together with Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the two sons of Zebedee, and two more disciples.
Six days later Jesus took Peter, James, and John with him and led them up a high mountain. While they were up there all alone, his appearance was transformed.
Going on from there, he saw two more brothers. They were James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, working on the nets. Jesus called out to them too,
