But Festus wanted to do the Jews a favor, so he asked Paul, “Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem and face these accusations?”

After two years passed, Porcius Festus became the governor instead of Felix. But Felix wanted to do the Jews a favor, so he left Paul in prison.

“But we can’t do it during the feast,” they agreed, “or the people may riot.”

“As you know, the Passover Feast is two days away. The Son of Man is going to be handed over to his enemies, and they will nail him to a cross.”

So in the end, Pilate handed Jesus over to them to be nailed to a cross. The soldiers took charge of Jesus.

A man named Barabbas was in prison with some others who had committed murder in a rebellion against Rome.

But Peter had to wait outside by the door. The other disciple, the one the high priest knew, came back and spoke to the servant woman who was on duty there, so he could bring Peter in.
