Peter followed Jesus from a distance and came as close as the courtyard of the high priest. There he sat with the guards and warmed himself by the fire.
It was cold, and the slaves and officials were standing around a fire that they’d started so they could keep warm. Peter stood there with them, trying to stay warm too.
Meanwhile, Simon Peter was still standing there by the fire keeping warm. They asked him, “You’re not one of Jesus’ disciples too, are you?” “No, I’m not,” he answered.
