During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, with loud cries and tears he prayed to and pleaded with the God who could save him from death, and God listened to him because of his reverence.

Those leading the crowd spoke harshly to him and told him to be quiet. But he shouted even louder, “Son of David! Have mercy on me!”

While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” they told him. “Why bother the teacher anymore?”

The crowd told them to stop shouting and be quiet. But the two men shouted even more loudly, “Lord! Son of David! Have mercy on us!”

Then people brought little children to Jesus because they wanted him to place his hands on them and pray for them. The disciples started to tell the people that they shouldn’t do this.

Pray in the Spirit at all times, making all kinds of prayers and requests. Stay alert and always keep praying for all the Lord’s people.

As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him. They called out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!”

People were bringing little children to Jesus because they wanted him to place his hands on them and bless them. But the disciples told them not to.
