Radiate New Testament

Everyone from Jerusalem and the countryside of Judea came out to him. Admitting that they had sinned, John baptized them in the Jordan River.

Many who believed now came and openly admitted the wrong things they’d been doing.

Peter replied, “Turn away from your sins and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then your sins will be forgiven, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

John was also baptizing, at Aenon near Salim, because there was plenty of water there and people were coming to be baptized.

This all happened at Bethany on the other side of the Jordan River, where John was baptizing.

Large crowds followed him from Galilee, from the area known as the Ten Cities, from Jerusalem and Judea, and from the area across the Jordan River.

These words of the prophet Isaiah came true when John the Baptist appeared in the desert, preaching that people should seek God’s forgiveness by being baptized and turning away from their sins.

John’s clothes were made out of camel’s hair, and he wore a leather belt around his waist. For food, he ate locusts and wild honey.

John was like a lamp that burned and gave light, and you chose to enjoy his light for a while.

So confess your sins to one another and pray for one another so that you will be healed. The prayer of a godly person is very powerful, and great things happen because of it.
