When he saw the crowds, he felt deep concern for them, because they looked ragged and bewildered, like sheep without a shepherd.

We don’t have a high priest who can’t feel what we feel when we’re weak. Instead, we have a high priest who has been tempted in every way just as we are, but without sinning.

So he had to be made like them—fully human in every way. That way he could serve God as a merciful and faithful high priest and purify the people from their sins.

When Jesus came ashore, he found a large crowd. He felt deep concern for them because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began to teach them many things.

The Son is the brilliance of God’s glory and the exact likeness of God’s being. He holds everything together by his powerful word. Once he had provided the way for people to be made pure from sin, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (That means, “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”)

He got up and ordered the wind to stop, and he said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” The wind died down and everything became completely calm.

A man with a skin disease came to Jesus, knelt down in front of him, and begged him, “If you’re willing, you can make me clean.”

Right away the disease left the man and he became clean.
