So let’s approach God’s throne of grace confidently, because we’ll receive mercy there and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Preach the word, be ready to serve God in good times and bad, correct people’s mistakes. Warn them, encourage them with words of hope, and be very patient as you do these things. Teach the people carefully,

Even Christ did not please himself. It is written, “The bad things people have said about you have also been aimed at me.”

But how can they call on someone they haven’t believed in? How can they believe in someone they’ve never heard of? How can they hear about him unless someone preaches to them?

He proclaimed the kingdom of God boldly and taught people about the Lord Jesus Christ. And no one kept him from teaching and preaching about those things.

Everyone the Father gives me will come to me, and I’ll never turn any of them away.

“My food,” Jesus said, “is to do what my Father sent me to do and to finish his work.

Then he sent them out to announce God’s kingdom and heal those who were sick.

“You are being given the chance to understand the secrets of God’s kingdom. But to outsiders, I speak in stories. That way, “ ‘They’ll see, but they won’t know what they’re seeing; they’ll hear, but they won’t understand what they’re hearing.’

After this, Jesus traveled around from one town and village to another, announcing the good news of God’s kingdom. His 12 disciples were with him,

Jesus answered them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor; sick people do.

He has filled with good things those who were hungry, but he has sent the rich away empty.

“So I tell you that the kingdom of God is going to be taken away from you and given to people who will produce its fruit.

“Which of the two sons did what his father wanted?” “The first,” they answered. Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, tax collectors and prostitutes will enter the kingdom of God ahead of you.

When Jesus got to shore, he found a large crowd waiting for him. Moved with compassion for them, he healed their sick people.

So faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the preaching about Christ.

Jesus knew what the Pharisees were planning, so he left that place. A large crowd followed him, and he healed everyone who was sick.

The disciples returned and told Jesus what they had done. Then he gathered them together and tried to get away with them to a town called Bethsaida.

Late in the afternoon the 12 disciples came to him. They said, “Send the crowd away so they can go to the nearby villages and countryside and find food to eat and a place to stay, because there’s nothing here.”
