So I tell you this: Her many sins have been forgiven, as her acts of great love have shown. But whoever has been forgiven only a little loves only a little.”
When the law was introduced, sin got worse, because now people were doing things that they knew were wrong. But when sin got worse, God poured out an even greater abundance of grace.
“But then that servant went out and found another servant, who owed him 100 silver coins. He grabbed him and began to choke him. ‘Pay back what you owe me!’ he demanded.
Or what about those 18 people in Siloam who died when the tower fell on them? Do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem?
But if a servant doesn’t know the master’s wishes and does things for which he should be punished, he will receive a lighter beating. If someone has been given a lot, a lot will be expected of him; more will be asked of the person who has been entrusted with many responsibilities.
But Jesus answered, “You give them something to eat.” They said to him, “That would cost more than half a year’s wages! Should we go and spend that much on bread so we can feed them?”
