But when the Son of Man came, he did eat and drink, but you said, ‘He always eats and drinks way too much, and he has tax collectors and sinners for friends.’

the Pharisees and the teachers of the law started muttering, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”

A dinner was given at Bethany to honor Jesus. Martha served the food, and Lazarus was one of the people at the table with him.

When all the people saw this, they began to whisper among themselves, “Jesus has gone to be the guest of a sinner.”

One Sabbath day, Jesus went to eat in the house of a well-known Pharisee. While he was there, he was being carefully watched.

One of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, so he went to the Pharisee’s house and took his place at the table.

Levi gave a huge banquet for Jesus at his house. A large crowd of tax collectors and others came and ate with them.

When the Pharisees saw this, they asked the disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding.

When Jesus had finished speaking, a Pharisee invited him to eat with him. So Jesus went in and took his place at the table.

If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Even the tax collectors do that.

But when the Son of Man came, he did eat and drink the way most people do, and you said, ‘He’s always eating and drinking too much. He’s a friend of tax collectors and “sinners.” ’ But wisdom is proved right by its own actions.”

When John the Baptist came, he didn’t eat bread or drink wine, and you said, ‘He has a demon.’

But wisdom is proved right by all its followers.”
