The Pharisee who had invited Jesus saw this. He said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him—what kind of woman she is. She’s a sinner!”
Then they turned again to the blind man. “What do you have to say about him?” they asked. “It was your eyes he opened.” The man answered, “He’s a prophet.”
“Then who are you?” they asked him. “Are you Elijah?” “No, I’m not,” he replied. “Are you the Prophet we’ve been expecting?” they asked. “No,” he answered.
“What things?” Jesus asked. “About Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “He was a prophet who was powerful in what he said and did in the sight of God and all the people.
Then all the people who lived in the land of the Gerasenes were so filled with fear that they asked Jesus to go away. So he got into the boat to leave.
Because you didn’t recognize the time when God came to you, your enemies will smash you to the ground. They will destroy you and all the people inside your walls, and they won’t leave one stone on top of another.”
