All the people were filled with wonder, and they praised God. “A great prophet has appeared among us!” they said. “God has come to help his people.”

The Pharisee who had invited Jesus saw this. He said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him—what kind of woman she is. She’s a sinner!”

When the crowd saw this, they were filled with wonder, and they praised God for giving that kind of authority to a human being.

“Praise the Lord, the God of Israel! He has visited his people and paid to set them free.

Everyone was astounded and gave glory to God. They were filled with wonder and said, “We’ve seen amazing things today!”

The shepherds returned, giving glory and praise to God, because everything they’d seen and heard was just as they’d been told.

All of his neighbors were filled with fear and wonder. Throughout Judea’s hill country, people began talking about all these things.

The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”

The people were amazed when they saw all this, and they praised the God of Israel.

And they praised God because of me.

When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. Everyone who heard what had happened became very afraid.

Then they turned again to the blind man. “What do you have to say about him?” they asked. “It was your eyes he opened.” The man answered, “He’s a prophet.”

When the people saw the sign that Jesus had done, they began to say, “This must be the Prophet who was supposed to come into the world!”

“Sir,” the woman said, “I can tell that you’re a prophet.

asked him, “Why are you baptizing people if you’re not the Messiah, or Elijah, or the Prophet we’ve been expecting?”

“Then who are you?” they asked him. “Are you Elijah?” “No, I’m not,” he replied. “Are you the Prophet we’ve been expecting?” they asked. “No,” he answered.

“What things?” Jesus asked. “About Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “He was a prophet who was powerful in what he said and did in the sight of God and all the people.

They replied, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and still others say that one of the prophets of long ago has come back to life.”

Then all the people who lived in the land of the Gerasenes were so filled with fear that they asked Jesus to go away. So he got into the boat to leave.

When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees. “Go away from me, Lord!” he said. “I’m a sinful man!”

So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid but filled with joy. They ran to tell the disciples.

“This is the same Moses who said to the Israelites, ‘God will send you a prophet like me who will come from your own people.’

Because you didn’t recognize the time when God came to you, your enemies will smash you to the ground. They will destroy you and all the people inside your walls, and they won’t leave one stone on top of another.”

The man who had died sat up and started to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.
