So you must be careful to do everything they say. But don’t do what they do, because they’re all talk and no action.

These enemies left our community of believers, but they didn’t really belong to us. If they had belonged to us, they would have stayed with us. By leaving, they showed that none of them really belonged to us.

He cuts off any of my branches that don’t bear fruit, and he trims every branch that does bear fruit so that it will bear even more fruit.

I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you. They won’t spare any of the sheep.

And now for those enemies of mine who didn’t want me to be their king—bring them here and kill them in front of me!’ ”

“But the people who were going to be his subjects hated him. They sent some messengers after him to say, ‘We don’t want this man to be our king.’

At that time, many will turn away from the faith. They will hate one another and hand each other over to their enemies.

They’re like a person who builds a house by digging down deep and laying its foundation on solid rock. When a flood comes, the river rushes against it, but the house can’t be shaken because it is well built.

Jesus finished saying all these things to the people who were listening, and then he went into Capernaum.
