Those who win the victory will receive all this from me. I’ll be their God, and they’ll be my children.

If anyone wins the victory, I’ll make that person a pillar in the temple of my God. They’ll never leave it again. On them I’ll write the name of my God and the name of his city, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down from him out of heaven. I’ll also write my new name on them.

If anyone wins the victory, I’ll give that person white clothes to wear, and I’ll never erase their name from the book of life. I’ll speak of them by name to my Father and his angels.

The apostles were full of joy as they left the Sanhedrin. They considered it an honor to suffer shame for the name of Jesus.

Rejoice and be glad, because you have a great reward in heaven. You’re being treated just the way people treated the prophets who lived long ago.

Instead, be glad that you can take part in Christ’s sufferings. That way you’ll be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.

My brothers and sisters, think of it as pure joy when you face all kinds of trouble.

He jumped to his feet and began to walk. He went with Peter and John into the temple courtyards, walking and leaping and praising God.

He considered it more valuable to suffer shame for Christ than to have the riches of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward.

Without faith it’s impossible to please God, because those who come to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who try hard to find him.

If we endure, we’ll also rule with him. If we say we don’t know him, he’ll say he doesn’t know us.

I’m joyful because of what I’m suffering for you. My suffering continues the sufferings of Christ for his body, which is the church.

That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, insults, hard times, attacks, and difficulties. For when I’m weak, that’s when I’m strong.

We’re full of joy because we expect to share in God’s glory. And that’s not all. We’re full of joy even when we suffer.

So he called out to him, “Stand up on your feet!” The man sprang to his feet began to walk.

But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then you will have a great reward. You will be children of the Most High God, who is kind to people who do wrong and are ungrateful.
