During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, with loud cries and tears he prayed to and pleaded with the God who could save him from death, and God listened to him because of his reverence.

Once the crowd was gone, he went up on a mountainside to pray.

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up and left the house. He went to a place where he could be alone and pray.

Spend a lot of time and effort in prayer. Always be alert to what you should be praying for, and always give thanks for answered prayer.

When you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father, who can’t be seen. Then your Father, who sees what you do in secret, will reward you.

When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him,

Jesus went up on a mountainside and called those he wanted, and they went to him.

But Jesus often went away to be by himself and pray.

But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law got very angry. They began to talk to one another about what they could do to Jesus.

Jesus came down from the mountain with these men and stood on a level place. A large crowd of his disciples was there, along with a large number of other people from all over Judea, including Jerusalem, and from the coastland around Tyre and Sidon.

One day when Jesus was praying alone and only his disciples were with him, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say I am?”

About eight days after Jesus had said this, he took Peter, John, and James with him and went up on a mountain to pray.

As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning.

Then Jesus went up on a mountainside and sat down with his disciples.
