But at dinner, Zacchaeus stood up and said, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of what I own to the poor. And if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount I took.”

Anyone who used to steal must never steal again. Instead, they should work, doing something useful with their own hands, so that they will have something to share with people in need.

In everything, do to others what you would want them to do to you. That sums up the Law and the Prophets.

Since we’re surrounded by such a huge cloud of witnesses, let’s throw off everything that weighs us down and any sin that gets in our way. Let’s keep on running the race on the course in front of us.

Even tax collectors came to be baptized. “Teacher,” they asked, “what should we do?”

Then some soldiers asked him, “And what should we do?” John replied, “Don’t force people to give you money, don’t bring false charges against anybody, and be content with your pay.”
