But the whole crowd shouted, “Kill this man! Let Barabbas go instead!”
The crowd listened to Paul until he said this. They started shouting, “Kill him! He isn’t fit to live!”
The crowd around them kept shouting, “Kill him, kill him!”
You spoke against the Holy and Blameless One, and you asked for a murderer to be set free instead.
(Barabbas had been thrown into prison because he’d led a revolt in the city against the authorities, during which he had committed murder.)
But Peter had to wait outside by the door. The other disciple, the one the high priest knew, came back and spoke to the servant woman who was on duty there, so he could bring Peter in.
