A servant girl saw him sitting there in the firelight. She looked closely at him and said, “This man was with Jesus.”

She asked Peter, “You’re not one of Jesus’ disciples too, are you?” “No, I’m not,” he answered.

When evening came, Jesus arrived with the 12 disciples.

“Leave her alone,” Jesus told them. “Why are you criticizing her? She has done a beautiful thing for me.

Meanwhile, Peter was sitting out in the courtyard. A female servant came up to him and said, “You also were with Jesus of Galilee.”

Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes again, and when he opened his eyes wide, his sight was restored, and he could see everything clearly.

Some of the people there started a fire in the middle of the courtyard. When they sat down together, Peter sat down with them.

But Peter denied it. “Woman,” he replied, “I don’t know him.”
