Without question, true godliness comes from this great mystery: Jesus came as a human being, and he was declared right with God by the Holy Spirit. He was seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, and taken up in glory.
“If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. After all, it is written, “ ‘The Lord will command his angels to take good care of you. They will lift you up in their hands so that you don’t trip over a stone.’ ”
So he had to be made like them—fully human in every way. That way he could serve God as a merciful and faithful high priest and purify the people from their sins.
After Paul had spent some time there, he set out once again and traveled throughout Galatia and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples in those regions.
There they strengthened the disciples, encouraging them to remain faithful to what they’d been taught. “We have to go through many hard times to enter the kingdom of God,” they explained.
