The apostles began to ask one another about this. They wondered which one of them would do it.

They were dismayed. One by one they asked him, “Surely you don’t mean me?”

This made the disciples very sad. They began to say to him, one after the other, “You don’t mean me, do you, Lord?”

The Son of Man will go to his death, just as God has already decided. But woe to the one who hands him over!”

They also started to argue about which of them should be considered the most important.
