The Lord isn’t slow to keep his promise, not slow in the way some people understand it. Instead, he’s being patient with you. He doesn’t want anyone to be destroyed. He wants everyone to turn away from their sins.

Even though you are evil, you know how to give good gifts to your children. How much more will your Father who is in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

A widow who truly needs help and is left all alone puts her hope in God. She keeps on praying night and day and asking God for help.

They called out in a loud voice, “How long, Lord and King, holy and true, will you wait to judge those who live on the earth? How long will it be until you pay them back for killing us?”

And God will do what’s fair in the end by paying those who are troubling you back with trouble of their own,

and after he died she had lived as a widow until she was 84. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, praying and going without food.

Even people who are bad know how to give good gifts to their children. How much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him!

“Celebrate this, you heavens! Celebrate, people of God! Celebrate, apostles and prophets! God has judged her with the same judgment she passed against you.”

We’re praying very hard, night and day, that we’ll be able to see you again and provide what you still need for your faith.

As God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, put on tender mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience as if they were new clothes.

Who can bring any charge against God’s chosen ones? It’s God who makes us right with himself.

Therefore, “they stand in front of the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple. The one who sits on the throne will be with them to protect them.
