“Suppose someone has a claim against you and is taking you to court. Settle the matter quickly, while you’re still on the way there together. If you don’t, you may be handed over to the judge, the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison.

He said, “In a certain town there was a judge who didn’t have any respect for God and who didn’t care what people thought.

“For some time the judge refused, but he finally said to himself, ‘Though I don’t have any respect for God and I don’t care what people think,

because this widow keeps bothering me, I’m going to see that things are made right for her. If I don’t, someday she’ll pester me to death!’ ”
