Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would have fought to keep the Jewish leaders from arresting me. My kingdom is from another place.”

While the people were listening to these things, Jesus told them a story, because he was near Jerusalem, and the people thought that God’s kingdom was going to appear right away.

“The Law and the Prophets were preached until John the Baptist came. Since then, the good news of God’s kingdom is being preached, and everyone is trying hard to enter the kingdom.

‘We wipe even the dust of your town from our feet! We do this to warn you, and here is what you can be sure of: God’s kingdom has come near.’

One Sabbath day, Jesus went to eat in the house of a well-known Pharisee. While he was there, he was being carefully watched.
