All of you are children of the light and children of the day. We don’t belong to the night or to the darkness.

You used to be darkness, but now you’re light in the Lord. Live as children of the light.

“If you can be trusted with very little, then you can also be trusted with a lot. But if you aren’t honest with very little, then you also won’t be honest with a lot.

While you have the light, believe in it, so that you can become children of light.” When Jesus had finished speaking, he left and hid from them.

Here’s how you can tell the difference between God’s children and the devil’s children. Anyone who doesn’t do what is right isn’t God’s child, and anyone who doesn’t love their brother or sister isn’t God’s child either.

I know—I’ll do something so that when I lose my job here, people will welcome me into their houses.’

Jesus answered, “People in this world get married and their parents give them in marriage.

But God chose you to be his own people, his royal priests, a holy nation, his special treasure. You’re all these things so that you can tell everyone how wonderful God is. He brought you out of darkness and into his marvelous light.

Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and they brag about things they should be ashamed of. They only think about earthly things.

Don’t fool yourselves. If any of you think you’re wise by the standards of the world, you should become “fools” so that you can become truly wise.

The Lord said, “Listen to what the unfair judge says.

“From others,” Peter answered. “Then the children don’t have to pay,” Jesus responded.

Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the one to come.

“Then he asked the second one, ‘And how much do you owe?’ “ ‘I owe 1,000 bushels of wheat,’ he replied. “The manager told him, ‘Take your bill and change it to 800 bushels.’

But it won’t be like that when the dead rise. Those who are considered worthy to take part in the world to come won’t get married, and they won’t be given in marriage.
